MARIANA TRENCH

We see stars located billions of lightyears away. Man has visited our Moon, which is 380,000 kilometres away. Hundreds of thousands of us fly city to city on a daily basis at altitudes of 11 kilometres. But only three men in the history of our planet have submerged to the depth of the same ... 11 kilometers.

The coordinates and depth of the Mariana Trench are hidden in the title of the art-piece. The trench is located in the western Pacific Ocean about 200 kilometres east of the Mariana Islands, it is the deepest part of our ocean, and the deepest trench in the world. In 2019 during his record-breaking dive, Victor Vescovo found a plastic bag and candy wrappers at the bottom of the trench, confirming that human-generated waste is capable of reaching the deepest parts of the ocean.
