“This person is me. I have a baggage of problems and worries that drag me down. But I’m not the only one with such issues:
7 human sins and a new, eighth sin — NOT KEEPING OUR HOME CLEAN — won’t let us fly until we change collectively!”
"Why People Can’t Fly" is a 10-meter-high mixed-media sculpture of a man who tries to fly, but is being held down by eight balloons filled with plastic debris. The artwork was created with the help of volunteers from 150 countries, who sent in plastic garbage to support Vasily and participate in the art-project.
The sculpture was part of the “In Dante Veritas” exhibition, showcased outside of the Arsenale during the Venice Biennale 2019, later moving to the Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert where it became an iconic piece.
