Performance "Homage to Joseph Beuys"

Osthaus Museum Hagen
"The future we want must be invented. Otherwise we will get one we don't want."
(Joseph Beuys)

The painting performance "Homage to Joseph Beuys" is another highlight of the large solo exhibition "VASILY KLYUKIN - MIND SPACE" (30 Sep 2022 - 29 Jan 2023). In spite of the performance that day, visitors witnessed the exhibition catalog presentation and remarks by Dr. Tayfun Belgin, director of the Osthaus Museum Hagen, and
by curator Joseph Kiblitsky.

Vasily Klyukin has always paid special attention to the work of one of the greatest German artists of our time and a major theorist of postmodernism - Joseph Beuys.
"I admire his innovative approach and his courage to have used unconventional techniques, materials and forms," Klyukin emphasises.

In 2021, the artist began making a Beuys sculpture to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth (12 May 2021) and decided to complete the sculptural work in the artist's home country and present it to the Osthaus Museum Hagen as a donation.
